Islamic Religious and Malay Custom, Kelantan (Maik) was established on 17 Safar 1334 corresponding December 24, 1915 through a declaration by HRH the Sultan Muhammad IV. Its purpose is to advise His Majesty the Sultan as the head of the religious affairs of the Islamic religion and Malay customs Kelantan.

ESTABLISHMENT PROCLAMATION MAIK

"Bahawasa in the meeting Council on Tuesday, 30 Muharram 1334 corresponding to December 7, 1915, indeed like we mekurniakan to the children of our country at an event called" Religious Council and Malay "as consideration for the welfare of the state of Kelantan. And with because this is, this is the day that we started opening ceremony to the child's knowledge of our country so that they will know the meaning we have given this Council. it is the purpose of our word "religion" it is every thing that brings finesse to all the sons of our country again add to the welfare of Kelantan. and we will for the word "Malay" is the complement of the customs and manners Malay properly maintained and sayodia them according to how the passage of time ..... "

According to the study, HRH Sultan Muhammad Ke-IV forgive favor the establishment of better after getting suggestions and views from three French scholars and intellectuals (intelligentsia). They are :

1. Bin Haji Nik Mahmood Nik Ismail (Dato 'Paduka Prime Minister Rajai)
2. Haji Muhammad bin Khatib Hj. Muhammad Said (Dato 'Laksamana)
3. Haji Awang Muhd. Yusoff bin Ahmad (Tok)

On December 24, 1915 equal to 17 Safar 1334, both preached inception by HRH Sultan Muhammad Ke-IV in a glittering ceremony at the Land Office Kota Bharu old, in front of state dignitaries, witnessed by most of the people of Kelantan.
