In 1961 was the date of expiry of the European General Manager of KTM. Dato 'Ahmad War is the first native of the General Manager, and Waad Haji Jamaluddin is the first KTM staff managed to hold the post of General Manager of KTM. The rest of the post was held by the Administrative and Diplomatic Officer (PTD) seconded to KTM.
In 1992, KTM has been privatized and the name was changed to KTM Train Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB). KTMB also have to tread a step further by introducing a modern transport system known as commuting in accordance with today's modernity.
In 1995, the Kuala Lumpur railway station was moved to the new station, which is located in Kuala Lumpur Senteral (KL Sentral). The new station is modern and comfortable, while the old railway station used as a stop for the commuter service and tour center.
