In general, the Ipoh City Council as the Local Authority is a body corporate established by the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) as the body responsible for managing and administering the city of Ipoh based on local interest, as well as the local planning authority in under the Town and Country planning Act 1976 (Act 172), MBI tasked directly by law to formulate and implement policies locality-based local development planning in accordance with the policy set by the government.

Now, the border area of the Council covers an area of 643 square km with a population of over 720,000 people. As the capital of Perak Darul Ridzuan, Ipoh serves as the administrative, commercial, sports, finance, politics, religion and education. Now under the leadership of the Mayor, City Council Ipoh continuously working to make this city as a city that is dynamic and superior.
