Tumpat District Council is a statutory body formed in the State of January 1, 1979, following a decision made by the National Council for Local Government in 1973 aims to make local authorities in Peninsular Malaysia made restructuring. Restructuring of local enforcement officers have made is based on the Local Government Act, Act 171 of 1976.Sebenarnya Local Government system in the state's longstanding Darulnaim it began in 1907 with the establishment of 'Sanitory Board' in some areas under the applicable law 'Sanitory Board' in 1907 along with Kota Bharu Tumpat and Pasir Mas is a three colonies were originally placed under control 'Sanitory Board' with the main tasks sanitation, garbage collection and street lamps in 1914.
